Sudi's inspiration for her artistic development has been her father.

She grew up in a house designed by her father, where he incorporated indirect lighting, which is very rare in traditional Japanese homes. In the centre of the house, he created a small courtyard surrounded by a drawing room. Every night, he would turn off the interior lights, casting light onto the yard, illuminating the garden in the darkness. Sudi and her father cherished the serene view of the trees in the yard through the curtain. It was a simple yet tranquil and peaceful moment.

Since her childhood she has also been aware of a distance, a separation like a thin veil between society and herself. It has always been difficult for her to fit into the conformative Japanese society. Sudi feels as if she was observing society from the stage wings, instead of playing her part as a Japanese citizen on the stage.

Just as at a young age she turned to the stage for protection, Sudi now turns to photography. Photography, a form of active meditation and life-giving for her, transports her elsewhere, allowing an escape from her surroundings and filling the emptiness she always feel. Regardless of where she is or who she is with, she always trusts her instincts and captures spontaneous, real, fleeting moments without manipulation. Simply a rapid-eyed response to an unconscious resonance between the scene and her inner self. This is a common thread in Sudi's work: she captures the connection between herself and the universe. In this way, she is documenting her own reality.

In this photography book, Sudi emphasizes illuminating emotions through shadows and light. The scenery is simple yet tranquil. 83 images show an awareness of a distance, a separation like a thin veil between society and herself. This thin veil is tranlated into a plastic cover, showcasing one of her most representative images, while it uncovers a blank bookcover. It has always been difficult for her to fit into the conformative Japanese society.
