Cells release small sacks filled with fluid, which are called extracellular vesicles. Since the properties of these vesicles in body fluids change during disease, vesicles have promising clinical applications. However, the small size of extracellular vesicles hampers their detection. The aim of this book is to improve the detection of extracellular vesicles by (1) obtaining insights into physical properties of extracellular vesicles, and (2) gaining a profound understanding of techniques to detect extracellular vesicles.
