Greetings from Europe is an account of a major international project, instigated by Dirk Sijmons, the Netherlands state adviser on landscape. Thirty European schools teaching landscape architecture or leisure management have been doing research by design into the relationship between the European landscape and leisure. Inspired by travel guides, the book takes the reader to each of the contributing countries. A thumbnail sketch of the country and analyses of that country's recreation and tourism are followed by design and planning solutions for particular regions. Themed essays written by professionals alternate with and are enhanced by a map of European leisure scapes, picture postcards, poems, photographs, general tourist information and European statistics.
