This is the diary of a young German soldier who was drafted into the army towards the end of the war. He writes about the terrible things he has seen and experienced. He himself was wounded with a shot in the leg. After his recovery and rehabilitation, he had to serve in the army a second time. Unfortunately, he did not survive the second time.His older sister, who lived in the eastern part of Germany with their parents, had to flee from the advancing Russian army. She also put her experiences and hardships on paper. It took her many years to come to terms with the trauma and loss of her younger brother. She is one of the lucky ones who survived. She took the time to remember and to write down her memories of that time for the younger generation.
