Photographer Maarten van der Kamp (1981) is one of the last bohemians of our time. He spends eight hours a day walking the streets. Using his analogue Leica, he paints a picture of contemporary Amsterdam that's as sordid as it is idyllic, revealing the staggering diversity of the city. The bustle of tourists, the fast food, the loved-up couple, the cat slipping through the crowd. Each photo contains wonderful details that only become apparent when you take a closer look.

After a failed career as a novelist, a brief stint as a model and an alcohol addiction, Maarten van der Kamp threw himself into street photography. The Amsterdammers is the magnificent result.
