Madness of war Lest we forget

Hardback68 pagina’sEngels
Every year, the Airborne landings of September 17, 1944 are commemorated. Nearly eighty years later, poet Mieke Mintjes and artist Albert Ziëck embark on a unique collaboration to make thoughts and images of those landings visible. They see pen and brush as extensions of their souls. The result is a merging and strengthening of each other's work. Colorful and powerful images paired with delicate and moving texts. Images and texts that seize the reader by the throat and offer solace at the same time. Then there was war and came the peace. Now there is peace, but war is not far from us.One cannot take peace for granted, there will always exist (inter)national conflicts. How can we prevent them from resulting in humiliating wars? Intervention with military aggression can be the last option in exceptional circumstances, but never to humiliate or oppress the other for a long time. Sensitivity, empathy and an outreaching hand to the other person are the characteristics of those who balance as long as possible on the thin thread of a peace agreement. They maintain their balance at all costs in order not to fall on the brink of war.
