The clinical and scientific knowledge about oncological rehabilitation, chronic edema and scar management has significantly increased in recent years. Unfortunately, physiotherapeutic approaches have not evolved at the same rate, and a gap remains between the scientific evidence and clinical practice.
Oncology, lymphology and beyond bridges this gap: it provides a physiotherapeutic point of view on a patient-centred care model by integrating both scientific and clinical evidence. In comprehensible terms, it offers both evidence-based methodology and scientific background information, which are highly relevant to all health-care professionals involved in the care for patients with cancer, (cancer-related) chronic edema and surgical scars. Practical take-home messages will help physiotherapists and other health-care workers enhance the quality of their patient care.
