Het handboek Oplossingsgerichte vragen heeft als doel gespreksvoering simpel en positief te maken voor professionals in de (geestelijke) gezondheidszorg, en in situaties van management, leidinggeven, coaching, mediation en onderwijs. Cliënten worden op respectvolle wijze uitgenodigd hun doel te formuleren met een beschrijving van wat ze voor het probleem in de plaats willen, de uitzonderingen op het probleem te vinden en voort te bouwen op hun sterke kanten en op wat in hun leven werkt. Dit wordt gemakkelijk gemaakt door het stellen van de 1001 oplossingsgerichte vragen die in dit boek beschreven staan. Het concept en de methodiek van oplossingsgerichte gespreksvoering, alsook de houding van de oplossingsgerichte professional, verschillen wezenlijk van probleemgerichte gespreksvoering.
