Milton Kam portrayed Suriname’s indigenous peoples as they adapt to 21st century life. From living in the Amazonian rainforest to city-life in the melting pot of its capital city, Paramaribo.In 1987 Milton Kam left his native Suriname for New York City, where he studied filmmaking. He has traveled extensively for his work as a cinematographer of films, television and documentaries. His visit to Suriname after an absence of more than 20 years re-ignited his love for the country and set him on a path to photograph Suriname’s indigenous peoples’ current way of living.
