Salvi and Maya are brother and sister. Maya discovered a very special pond in a cave. When they jump into the pond they suddenly arrive in a different part of the world.

They visit well known places such as 'de Keukenhof', 'Kinderdijk', Gouda and Amsterdam.

The book also has an idealistic character which is reflected in the main characters. They are brother and sister but they do not look alike at all and are two totally different personalities. This way every child will be able to recognize something of him or herself in the main characters. There are more idealistic details in the book such as peace (white pigeon) and tolerance (gay couple wandering around).

The main aim is for children and adults to get to know several Dutch cities and Dutch culture but it also hopes it will contribute to an attitude of tolerance. Learning in a positive way about other cultures and habits will contribute to tolerance. In addition several tidbits about the Netherlands are included in the back of the book.
