The author describes the Earth's climate from 570 million years ago to the present. In doing so, he puts the current climate in the right perspective. He describes in clear language the immense forces of plate tectonics through which the continents move over the earth and the climate is determined and regulated. Briefly, the author explains what the main source of carbon dioxide is in the atmosphere and how carbon dioxide is naturally removed from the atmosphere. He then shows that an ice age climate currently prevails on Earth, which will be the case for a long time to come.
