

The color of X-rays spectral X-ray computed tomography using energy sensitive pixel detectors

About the thesis:
Spectroscopic readout chips can be connected to semiconductor sensors to realize energy sensitive X-ray imaging detectors. In this thesis I study the applicability of these detectors, based on the Medipix readout chip, in X-ray Computed Tomography (CT), showing the benefits of spectral CT with respect to conventional techniques.
About the Author:
I graduated in high energy physics in 2010 from the University Sapienza in Rome, Italy, with a thesis work carried out at the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. I got my PhD in physics in 2014 from Nikhef, the Dutch national Institute for particle physics. From December 2014 I am working at CERN and the University of Geneva on the Cherenkov Telescope Array experiment.
