This partly fictional book reveals the still-secret double-cross scheme Philby and the British secret services brilliantly played on the Soviet Union during the Cold War right up to Philby’s death in May 1988 and eventually helped trigger the demise of the USSR. Named, Operation Tatler, it functioned on similar lines to the highly successful World War 11 Double-Cross or XX System, which employed counter-espionage, disinformation and deception operations against the Nazis.
