Water as a concept is a leitmotiv in Hooghiemstra's work. His work is collected by museums and private collectors, including the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, Rijksmuseum Amsterdam, Teylers Museum Haarlem, Fries Museum Leeuwarden, National Collection of Contemporary Drawing, Limerick, The Model, Sligo and Museum De Buitenplaats, Eelde. Tjibbe Hooghiemstra lives and works in The Netherlands and Ireland. He studied at the Minerva Art Academy (Ba) in Groningen (The Netherlands) and the Sint Lucas Academy (Ma) in Ghent, Belgium and has lectured at art academies in Great Britain, Ireland and The Netherlands.
