In our time of digital revolution and image explosion, more and more artists return to the medium of oil paint. Some of this group have set out to learn how to paint from nature in a traditional way. This trend has resulted in an international revival of the lost language of oil painting and the concept of beauty in art. One of the most established of these artists is the Swedish painter Urban Larsson, who has lived and worked in Amsterdam for nearly 20 years. He paints portraits, landscapes and still lifes. Larsson's numerous exhibitions and prestigious portrait commissions, both in Europe and the United States, have brought him international acclaim. Striving for beauty and universal human values, he paints only from life and in a tradition that has evolved over more than four centuries-sight-size. This book, containing over 150 reproductions of his oil paintings and drawings and essays by Jan Six and Charles Cecil, provides an extensive and unique view and insight into his art.
