The work was difficult and risky, with hell to pay if they were ever spotted, which they were not. Clearly written and well-paced, it also tells about life aboard a submarine, and a diesel boat. Definitely recommended.

Stoppen met lezen is zelfs voor iemand die niet van thrillers houdt (...) bijna onmogelijk. Bij zinnen die ik niet onmiddellijk begreep, bood de verklarende woordenlijst uitkomst. Doorlezen zonder de lijst te raadplegen is uiteraard ook mogelijk, al gaat er mijns inziens dan wel iets verloren. De terminologie verleent het verhaal immers de authenticiteit die het nodig heeft om te beklijven. En beklijven, dat doet Karremanns boek.
