A big bang How Joost Pauwaert created a new form in 1500 days
This book is entirely devoted to the history of one sculpture: two cannonballs that collided against each other, fired with homemade twelve-pounders. The artist Joost Pauwaert is interviewed by the author Hans Theys about the five years of research that preceded the successful shot. They talk about barrels made of turned steel or cast iron, fuzes, bronze alloys, different types of gunpowder and so on. Theys also explains how we can view this work from the history of sculpture.
