The 21st Noorderlicht International Photofestival is inspired by a growing movement that confronts the structural failings of our current economic and political systems. In the digital era of worldwide mobility, we are learning to imagine ourselves as planet dwellers and global citizens. More than 60 international photographers testify to today's resourcefulness and passion paving the way towards alternatives in shaping our collective future. Through themes like subcultures, solitude, the call of the wild, mass protest and civil uprising, and the pioneering DIY ethics that continue to shape activist movements today, the presented work is a fervent celebration of our potential.
