In both the exhibition and its follow-up publication, 'Autumn of Modernism' addresses the problem of how to define the discrepancy between the present and the contemporary. Through revival of elements from the past and the notion of obsolescence - the creation of "a scale of values based on the socio-cultural ageing of the things produced by society" - we are confronted with the fact that art challenges the increasingly predominant trend of the "current" in today's cultural landscape. Featured artists include Petra Stavast, Piet Dieleman, Gwenneth Boelens, Batia Suter, Falke Pisano and Remco Torenbosch, among many others.
