Living in God’s love: Does that really exist? And is that still possible, now that science and technology - and the three giants of the nineteenth century, Darwin, Marx and Freud - have driven God to the margins of our existence and our thinking, and have in fact already pushed Him over the edge? But also: What can we say about our own existence? Are we merely a manifestation of matter and concentrated energy? What is life? And is there such a thing as eternal life? If so, what should we imagine that to be? And in that context, what is the meaning of mind, soul, and body? Where is Heaven? And where are the angels? Are there more dimensions than just space and time? And who is Jesus? How can I find Him? How should we view Israel and the Jewish people? What does the Bible have to say about all these things? These and many other questions are addressed in this book. On the occasion of his 80th birthday (November 16, 2024) Willem Glashouwer considered these questions for his children and grandchildren and wrote down what had personally helped him find answers. In addition, he hopes that this book will show readers a viable path to the future in these turbulent and prophetic times. This is a personal book. Many will find it relatable. It is a testimony that even today it is still very possible to discover and live a life in God’s love. Without an attitude of ‘empty mind, endless horizon,’ and not as an escape from reality (holed up with a book), but in full awareness of the many questions that are rushing towards us and our children and grandchildren. The book is written for a generation that lives with the reality of the chorus of a song by the Dutch pop group Doe Maar: ‘Before the bomb drops.’ But there is hope for the future, even now... or perhaps especially now!Reverend Willem J. J. Glashouwer (born 1944) is an emeritus minister in the Dutch Reformed Church, and was a pioneer of the Evangelical Broadcasting Company, the Evangelical College, and the Evangelical School for Journalism. He has been involved in the work of Christians for Israel in the Netherlands for many years. After serving the organisation for more than ten years as chairman of the Dutch branch, he became president of Christians for Israel International in 1999.
